General Description:

The workshop will present the features of a reverse mortgage that should be considered when assisting a client with the decision process.

Learning Objectives:

After completing this course the participant will be able to:

  • List the requirements for a reverse mortgage.
  • Summarize the history and development of reverse mortgages.
  • Describe the current status of reverse mortgages.
  • Compare the different types of reverse mortgage programs available.
  • Compare the reverse mortgage application process to conventional mortgage products.
  • Explain the required Statement of Loan Terms and Benefits.
  • Prepare a cost analysis of a reverse mortgage.
  • Prepare a future projection of a typical reverse mortgage via amortization schedule.

Instructors:

Steve Watson, CPA, is a certified reverse mortgage consultant with Approval Reverse Mortgage, Inc. He received a bachelor's degree in social sciences from San Diego State University and M.B.A. in accounting from the University of Colorado at Denver. He was principal owner of Watson and Company, Inc. for 19 years.
