General Description:

This is a huge year for changes for accounting and assurance services. Participants will review the most recent standards as well as older standards that they may have missed or found difficult to implement. This interactive workshop designed for practitioners in small and medium-sized CPA firms will include lecture and generous time for questions and case studies to reinforce the concepts. Participants are encouraged to ask questions.

Learning Objectives:

After completing this course the participant will be able to:

  • Describe accounting issues related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Explain the new SQCS, Statement on Quality Control Standards, now known as SQMS, Statement on Quality Management Standards.
  • Implement the new compilation & review reports.
  • Implement the leasing rules.
  • Summarize the NOCLAR (noncompliance with laws or regulations) rules.
  • Describe a CPA’s requirements for cybersecurity.
  • Summarize the new audit report.
  • Summarize the new ERISA audit rules.
  • Describe the new audit standards, including evidence and analytics.
  • Implement the changes to SSAE, Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements.

Instructors:

Mark F. Wille, CPA, has been a peer reviewer and a member of the California CPAs Accounting and Auditing Committee for more than 30 years. His practice consists mainly of small business clients for whom he provides substantial strategic planning and financial coaching. He provides consulting for CPAs regarding various accounting and auditing matters and practice management, performs annual peer review inspections, and assists in the sale of their practices. Mark recently sold his practice to JLK Rosenberger CPAs.
