General Description:

Participants will review the newest requirements for financial statement presentations and disclosures as well as older issues that they may have missed or found difficult to implement in their firm, emphasizing guidance on how to review financial statements for disclosures that are commonly used. This interactive workshop designed for practitioners in small and medium-sized CPA firms will include lecture with generous time for questions and case studies to reinforce the concepts. Online participants are encouraged to call in with questions.

Learning Objectives:

After completing this course the participant will be able to:

  • Illustrate key financial statement and disclosure issues.
  • Demonstrate the disclosure requirements under U.S. GAAP.
  • Illustrate how to review financial statements and footnotes so they tell the whole story.
  • Identify common mistakes in financial statements.
  • Implement practical tips from the course.
  • Prepare and review financial statements.
  • Apply the revenue recognition, leasing, and credit loss rules.

Instructors:

Mark F. Wille, CPA, has been a peer reviewer and a member of the California CPAs Accounting and Auditing Committee for more than 30 years. His practice consists mainly of small business clients for whom he provides substantial strategic planning and financial coaching. He provides consulting for CPAs regarding various accounting and auditing matters and practice management, performs annual peer review inspections, and assists in the sale of their practices. Mark recently sold his practice to JLK Rosenberger CPAs.
